Edgar Anderson, Ph.D, BSN, MSHSA is Director of Behavioral Services for Recovery Keys addiction treatment and recovery program with offices in St. Augustine and Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Anderson administered hypnoanalgesia as a Certified Nurse Anesthetist at Harlem Hospital, Bellevue, St Mary’s and St. Vincent’s Medical Centers in New York City. Dr Anderson became a Registered Respiratory Therapist and applied these skills to relieve cardiorespiratory symptoms during his tenure as Chairman of the Therapeutic Division and Director of Cardiorespiratory Sciences in the School of Allied Health Professions at Stony Brook University in New York. Here his interest in the scientific effect of behavioral change on stress-related diseases flourished.
Dr. Anderson received training from Herbert Spiegel, M.D. and advice from Milton Erickson, M.D. during his research on “Non hypnotic and Hypnotic Control of Ventilation and Effect of Hypnotic Instruction on Nasal Congestion of 24 Hayfever Sufferers.” After retiring from the University as Associate Professor Emeritus, Dr. Anderson continued private practice in hypnosis and biofeedback and served as consultant at Huntington Stress Center, Huntington, New York.
Since moving to Florida, Dr. Anderson received many physician referrals (Halifax Health and Vince Carter Sanctuary) to counsel and provide hypnosis, biofeedback, acupressure, guided-imagery, meditation and relaxation for stress-related disorders. Individual and group sessions are available. Patients can be trained to use self-hypnosis/relaxation and/or biofeedback after informed consent.
