As a Primary Therapist in the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at Recovery Keys, Matthew Roberts is dedicated to helping patients rebuild their lives during early recovery. A Registered Clinical Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) and Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CRPS), he brings extensive experience and a compassionate approach to his work.
With expertise in group therapy, person-centered psychotherapy, and supporting individuals as they reintegrate into professional and family systems, Matthew tailors his care to each patient’s unique needs. He earned a Bachelor’s in Human Services and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University. Using a trauma-informed approach, Matthew incorporates evidence-based treatment methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing. His focus on creating a supportive, person-centered experience ensures patients feel empowered and hopeful throughout their recovery journey.
A firm believer in the power of hope and resilience, Matthew emphasizes that recovery is possible, no matter how far someone has fallen. Based in St. Augustine, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, son, and two Rhodesian Ridgebacks. When he’s not working, you’ll often find him boating, fishing, or playing music with his family.
