Dr. Jason M. Hunt, MD, brings extensive expertise in addiction medicine, with a career spanning clinical care, academic leadership, and national advocacy. He spent nine years with the University of Florida College of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry, Division of Addiction Medicine, where he served as Medical Director of UF Health/FRC’s Intensive Outpatient Program and Assistant Fellowship Director of the Addiction Medicine Fellowship.
A graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Dr. Hunt completed his OB-GYN residency at the University of Louisville and practiced obstetrics and gynecology in Kentucky and Alabama before fully transitioning to addiction medicine. He is a nationally certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (AADC) and has served in key roles, including Board Member of the Alabama Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association (AADAA), FORMLL, and Pathfinder.
Dr. Hunt is widely recognized for his work in treating substance use and co-occurring disorders, with a particular focus on opioid use disorder during pregnancy. He has presented extensively at state and national conferences and currently serves as a Peer Prescriber Mentor for FADAA and the Florida Department of Children and Families. He also consults with the Opioid Response Network (ORN) and is a co-author of Understanding Addiction: Know Science, No Stigma, a book that reached #7 on Amazon’s Drug Dependency & Recovery list.
Dr. Hunt’s approach combines clinical excellence with a commitment to education, mentorship, and reducing the stigma surrounding addiction—helping individuals and families navigate recovery with compassion and evidence-based care.
