Bill Galer is a Primary Therapist with Recovery Keys addiction treatment and recovery program in St. Augustine and Jacksonville, Florida. He was first licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in 1998 in California where he worked in several outpatient and residential programs treating adolescents and adults. He maintained a private practice for several years before relocating to Jacksonville, Florida in 2004. Mr. Galer continued to work in the mental health and addictions field as the Program Director for The Players Championship Village, a rehab and substance abuse treatment center located in Jacksonville.
In 2008, Mr. Galer began working for The Professionals Resource Network (PRN), which serves as a Consultant to the Department of Health the Department of Business and Professional Regulation in the state of Florida, on matters relating to practitioner impairment. Here, he served as a clinical case manager, helping to rehabilitate and then monitor professionals in the healthcare field as they received treatment and then returned to practice. In 2012, Mr. Galer returned to direct service as the Program Coordinator for UF Health Florida Recovery Center Jacksonville an intensive outpatient addictions program. In 2015, he served as the Clinical Director of Beaches Recovery Services, a for-profit, IOP/PHP program with boarding in Jacksonville Beach serving adults suffering from addictions and mental health diagnoses. Additionally, Mr. Galer has taught numerous trainings, workshops and seminars for healthcare professionals, teachers, school counselors, and parents on addiction treatment and recovery, parenting and relationship building.
Mr. Galer believes strongly that when treating individuals struggling with substance use disorders, it is essential to work from a holistic approach, focusing on the mind, body and spirit. On a personal note, he stays busy with his lovely wife and two beautiful daughters. He is also an avid sports fan and golf enthusiast.
Mr. Galer is a graduate of San Diego State University where he earned both his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Counseling.
